🍽️ Ingredients
For the Tikki:
½ cup Moong Dal (soaked 3–4 hrs)
½ cup Chana Dal (soaked 3–4 hrs)
¼ cup peanuts (raw)
2 green chilies
1-inch piece ginger
1 bunch fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp chaat masala
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
2 tbsp sattu atta
1 tsp oil (for shallow frying)
For the Base:
1 cup hung curd
2 tbsp beetroot paste (boiled & blended)
Salt to taste
Chaat masala to taste
👩🍳 Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Grind the Base Mixture
Coarsely grind soaked moong dal, chana dal, peanuts, green chilies, ginger, and coriander leaves together. Do not make it too smooth — a bit of texture adds to the taste.
2. Mix and Shape
In a large bowl, mix the coarse paste with:
Salt, coriander powder, turmeric, and chaat masala
Finely chopped onion
Sattu atta for binding
Shape the mixture into small round tikkis.
3. Shallow Fry
Heat 1 tsp oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
Place the tikkis gently and shallow fry each side for 5–7 minutes on medium heat until golden brown and crispy.
4. Prepare the Beetroot Curd Base
In a bowl, mix hung curd with beetroot paste.
Add a pinch of salt and chaat masala. Whisk until smooth and pink.
5. Assemble & Serve
Spread the beetroot curd base on a serving plate.
Place the hot, crisp tikkis on top.
Optionally garnish with a drizzle of green chutney, microgreens, or sev for texture.
Perfect as a tea-time snack, starter, or healthy lunchbox option. Add a side of mint chutney or tamarind dip to elevate the flavor.
Enjoy!
