From Tween to Teen: Understanding the Biggest Transformation of Childhood

One day they want bedtime stories. The next, they close their bedroom door and ask for privacy. The journey from tween to teenager is one of the fastest and most fascinating transformations a child experiences. Between the ages of 10 and 16, children go through enormous physical, emotional, and social changes. Hormones begin to influence moods, friendships become increasingly important, and the desire for independence grows stronger. Parents often feel as though their cheerful child has suddenly become quiet, argumentative, or unpredictable. The truth is that this transition is completely normal.
